What are the advantages and disadvantages of PC made sports water bottles?

PC material, also known as polycarbonate, is a high molecular weight polymer widely used in many industrial fields, including electronics, automotive, construction, medical, and consumer goods. Polycarbonate is favored due to its unique physical and chemical properties, with the following specific advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages: High transparency, PC material has high transparency, comparable to glass in transparency, but lighter and safer than glass.

Excellent impact resistance, PC material is one of the strongest impact resistant plastics among many. Even under low temperature conditions,  its impact strength is still significant, so it is commonly used to manufacture products with high safety requirements such as bulletproof glass.

Heat resistance, PC material can withstand temperatures up to about 130-140 ° C, making it suitable for manufacturing various heat-resistant products.

Chemical stability, PC materials have good resistance to various chemical substances such as oil, fat, acid, alkali, etc.

Easy to process, PC can be easily processed into various shapes, making it easy to machine, shape, and dye.

Disadvantages: Low scratch resistance. Although PC materials have strong impact resistance, their surface hardness is relatively low and they are prone to scratches.  Long term use may affect transparency and appearance.

The UV resistance is weak, and untreated PC materials are sensitive to UV radiation. Prolonged exposure may cause the material to age and turn yellow.

Temperature sensitivity: Although PC materials have good heat resistance, they are prone to deformation at high temperatures or in contact with a fire source.

The issue of permeability is that the water vapor permeability of PC materials is higher compared to some other plastics,  and long-term exposure to humid environments may affect their performance.

The cost issue is that compared to some other common plastic materials, the production cost of PC materials is higher, which directly affects the market price of the final product.
